Fluorimetric Determination of Antiviral (COVID-19) Drug Favipiravir in Bulk and Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms

Favipiravir is a synthetic prodrug, which was first discovered while assessing the antiviral activity of chemical agents active against influenza virus in library Toyoma chemicals. It works by inhibiting RNA dependant polymerase (RdRP), an enzyme required for viral replication inside human cells. A simple, rapid, and economic method developed quantitative determination Favipiravirusing spectrofluorometer. The standard drug solution sample tablet prepared using double distilled water as diluent. different concentrations ofpure drugin range 2-10 μg/ml one were measured intensity at 432nm calibration curve plotted sample’s unknown concentration calculated from plot. found to be linear with r2 value obtained 0.99.There are various other methods available quantification include RP-HPLC, UV-spectroscopic methods, FTIR, LC-MS extraction spiked plasma but not shows fluorescence when dissolved appropriate solvent hencethis quantify simple efficient method. This easy can used routine quality control test pharmaceutical formulations.
